New England Typewriter, LLC, has grown at a far faster rate than we could have possibly imagined, and we have our wonderful customers to thank for that! Increased attention, however, requires streamlined communications. This page is dedicated to providing visitors—first-time and frequent alike—advanced notice of events and availabilities.

Extended Workshop Week (Store Closed)

One of the best parts of operating such an analog, interactive business is meeting so many new and interesting people. We’ve come to realize visitors—first-time and frequent alike—enjoy trying myriad typewriters, touring the shop, asking questions, and generally conversing (and we encourage it!). Likewise, as we embrace more events (writers groups, guided tours, type-ins, etc.), the influx of foot traffic continues to grow. To that end, the shop has become quite the unexpected hangout spot!

Originally, “Workshop Days” were designated for offsite cleanings; whereas, adjustments, detailing, and reassembly of typewriters were intended to be performed at the storefront, between visits from customers and the general public. As word spreads about our business and more people stop by to drop off and/or purchase machines, we’re finding additional time is needed to perform necessary customer repairs and to replenish sales stock, while allowing patrons and visitors the customer service and experience they deserve. For this reason, we will be dedicating a week per month to focus entirely on the needs of typewriter maintenance and repair.

During this time, no appointments will be accepted and contact will be limited. Our hope is, by sacrificing one week per month, honing our attention on typewriter repair, the community we’re building will be able to enjoy the shop on a much deeper level. Thank you for your understanding!
