What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. Sorry, we do not accept personal checks.

 

Is the storefront always open during listed hours?

Since we’re a small business with only one employee, there may be times when the storefront is closed due to holidays, vacations, or sick days. We recommend checking our website or social media for updates before visiting. You’re also welcome to call us to confirm we’re open.

 

I would like to visit the showroom, but cannot make it on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. Are you available any other days?

Yes, we are available by appointment on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Since these are our workshop days, there is a $50 non-refundable appointment fee (cash), which will be credited toward any purchase or service made during your visit.

 

Do you offer cash discounts?

Yes, we offer cash discounts on select services and purchases. To qualify for the discount, payment must be made in full with cash. Prices and discounts are clearly posted in the showroom.

 

Do you sell gift cards?

Yes, we offer reloadable gift cards. Purchases made with gift cards are not eligible for cash discounts.

How long after my typewriter has been repaired do I have to pick it up?

We’ll contact you when your typewriter is ready for pickup. If it’s not picked up within a week, a certified letter will be sent at your expense. After 60 days from the letter’s delivery, the typewriter will be considered abandoned, and New England Typewriter reserves the right to dispose of, resell, or handle the machine as deemed appropriate. If needed, alternate arrangements must be made in advance and confirmed in writing.

 

I see a typewriter on your website or social media. Can I put it on hold until I visit?

Hold requests are handled case by case. Some typewriters, especially rare or high-demand models, may not be eligible for holds.

Is there parking at the shop?

Yes, we’re located in a plaza with ample parking.

 

Is there an easy way to get heavy typewriters to and from my vehicle?

Yes, we provide a cart for convenience. Just visit the storefront before moving your typewriters, and please return the cart when you’re done.

 

Can I ship my typewriter for repair?

We highly recommend hand-delivering your typewriter for repair, as improper packing can cause significant damage during shipping. If you choose to ship, please contact New England Typewriter in advance for approval before sending your machine. We are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged typewriters during shipping. Also, since our storefront is only open three days a week, please ensure your machine is shipped to arrive when we are open.

 

Do you ship typewriters for sale?

At this time, we do not ship typewriters for sale, but it’s something we may offer in the future.

 

Do you resurface platens and rollers?

We don’t resurface rubber products in-house, but we can send them off-site for professional resurfacing.

 

Do you repair IBM typewriters?

No, we currently do not service IBM typewriters.

 

What kind of electric typewriters do you repair?

We repair portable Smith-Corona electric typewriters from the 1950s to the 1970s, along with many of their licensed variants (like Sears models).
